Two weeks ago, Molly really started giving me fits. She wasn't eating, she wasn't sleeping she was moody (taste of my own medicine, I know), in general, this was NOT my sweet little Molly Grace. I had decided to take her to the doctor and then magically, she seemed to get better. For the weekend. She went downhill again and by Friday, I HAD to take her in. She was now coughing and by the time I picked her up at daycare, she had a fever. We got to the doctor and they immediately gave her an albuterol treatment. Dr Joe watched her for a bit and decided that she really was breathing too hard, too fast and generally working to breathe too much. She was gonna wear out before long. He gave me the option to keep her and see how she did through the night. BUT I had to give her every four hour neb treatments. I just sat there...babies are notorious for getting worse at night, I have a two year old at home, I have three dogs at home, I already know that the two people that ALWAYS help me have plans for the weekend, and I am so wore out...I can't do this by myself. So we admitted her. Thank God we admitted her. She did get worse that evening and the following morning and it would have been an emergency situation for me if I had her at home. She was fighting a fever that kept climbing, a heart rate that wouldn't slow down, and STILL fighting to breathe. We had great RTs available to us and wonderful nurses watching her constantly though. She pulled through and thankfully we were able to remain at St Francis instead of going to Riley. I was worried...By Sunday she was doing even better, the steroids were working and she wasn't requiring nebulizer treatments as often. Dr Joe KNEW Jeff was coming home on Monday and by Monday morning he was comfortable enough to send her home to meet her daddy!! Hospitalizations are not fun, but I am sure thankful for them, great nurses, great RTs, and great insurance!
